Satellite Data on E.hux blooms in the North Atlantic during July 1999

These images come from a long term bloom monitoring project of Chris Brown of NOAA.
White - sea areas with high reflectivity patches interpreted as blooms of E. huxleyi.
Blue - sea areas without high reflectivity during the study interval.
Black - sea areas obscured by cloud cover thru the study interval.

      Results
Massive blooms comparable to those of July 1991 are not seen but some blooms are detected along the SW Iceland coast in both images, including in the direct vicinity of Heimaey in the July image.
