Scanning electron micrographs of

CODENET species from Puerto Rico

The Natural History Museum has recently purchased a new Philips XL30 field emission scanning electron microscope. This is an outstanding machine for high resolution SEM imaging. It will be used by the NHM team for study of coccolith ultrastructure and for qualitative work on morphological variation. It will also, of course, be possible for other CODENET participants to use this facility during visits to the NHM. The images on this page were taken from filter samples collected in February 1998 during the INA7 conference in Puerto Rico.

CODENET participants are welcome to use these for lectures, or to illustrate posters or publications. For publications high resolution images of the species are available from Jeremy Young or Markus Geisen. In the case of publication an acknowledgement should be made to "Jeremy Young & Markus Geisen, NHM, London".

N.B. These images look much better in 256 grey or 12 bit colour mode than in 256 colour mode. To download an image right-click on it and select "Save this image.." (click and hold on a Mac).
