Periphyllophora mirabilis
This species represents another example of a holococcolith. The hole surrounded by the coccoliths (in green) is the flagellar opening. Creating a good micrograph of holococcoliths is difficult, as they are rare in the plankton and tend to disintegrate rapidly.
