INA 15 Bohol, Philippines from March 7-16, 2015.
Hi everyone,
We would like to announce that the 15th International Nannoplankton
Conference (INA15) will be held in Bohol, Philippines from March 7-16,
2015.
The general schedule is as follows:
Pre-Conference Field Trips: March 7-8, 2015, Bohol Island
Conference Proper: March 9-13, 2015, Bohol Island
Post Conference Field Trip: March 14-16, 2015, Palawan Island
March was chosen as the best month to hold the conference mainly
because of the weather here in the Philippines (after consulting with
the state weather agency). This is a deviation from the usual
fall/autumn schedule for our meetings.
To give you a better idea, Bohol is the 10th largest island in the
Philippines with an area of 4,117.26 square kilometers (1,589.68 sq
mi)-- so it's not that small. The Philippines is made up of 7,000+
islands by the way, some large, some tiny. Most of us live in the
largest island, Luzon, where the capital, Manila/Metro Manila is
located. Bohol is known for its Chocolate Hills (karst) and its beaches
and reefs. We thought it would be more worth your while to travel this
far if there was a beach present in the conference venue:)
We hope to have the website up and running soon. In the meantime, feel
free to contact us at ina15philippines@gmail.com if you have any
questions.
Please mark your calendars and plan to be at INA15!
Cheers,
Alyssa Peleo-Alampay
