Stanislav Shumenko:
The study of material with the SEM allowed us to find rests of coccolithophorids from the Upper Triassic of the N Caucasus. In the carbonate deposits of the Carboniferous and Devonian of the E European platform, nannofossil relicts were discovered. They are very similar to relicts of coccoliths from the Eocene deposits of Egypt, changed by katagenetic processes, and were named as 'coccoid structures'. The same relicts were found even in the Proterozoic limestone of Karelia, containing 'Karelosoon jatulicum'.
